How To Make It In America Get the inside track on HBO's latest comedy series from the producers of Entourage

HBO Employs Legendary Graffiti Artist Lee Quinones

Posted on January 7, 2010

Here a piece HBO got Lee Quinones to do for HTMIA. A well documented plot point is that Luis Guzman's character Rene is hustling his own energy drink line called Rasta Monster, and this obviously looks like the van he is peddling it out of.

Lee Quinones has been at the forefront of American graffiti art and is universally regarded as a leading figure in the development and transition of Post-Graffiti within the contemporary art world. His work has landed in both public and private collections around the globe. Quinones was one of the key innovators during the early days of New York’s street-art movement.

Luis Guzman Wants To Bitch Slap Director

Posted on January 6, 2010

Here's an oldie but goodie that has been around for several years now. Luis Guzman gets into it with writer/director Rob McKittrick on the set of their 2005 movie "Waiting." The confrontation nearly reaches epic proportions like Christian Bale on the Terminator set. The two argue over a scene until Guzman reaches his boiling point and threatens to "bitch slap" McKittrick in front of the cast and crew. My favorite part is the faces of the cast such as Ryan Reynolds and Justin Long. They find it amusing until the realize this thing is about to come to blows. I've heard from several people on the "How to Make It in America" team that Guzman is a great guy, so maybe weeks of filming finally got to him for a brief moment. Nevertheless, maybe its best to do it his way...

Shannyn Sossamon Stars In New Sea Wolf Video

Posted on January 6, 2010

Sea Wolf has recently released their new music video for "Wicked Blood," and my favorite Pinay is the star.

Look, I'm going to be honest, I've never even heard of Sea Wolf, but Shannyn is hot, and we love her here. She could be starring in the new Jonas Brothers video and I'd still post it. The video features Shannyn running around in a nightgown in some sort of cemetery, while creepy fairytale characters chase her around.  The entire video is shot in black and white which I have to admit, bothers me a little bit.  Sea Wolf also contributed a song entitled "The Violet Hour" to the Twilight Sage: New Moon sound track, which makes me even more skeptical. My ears didn't bleed listening to this song, so in reality, Sea Wolf isn't that bad.  Their wiki page describes them as an indie rock band based out of Los Angeles. Click play and judge for yourself.

Don't forget, Shannyn Sossamon and "How to Make It in America "make their HBO debut February 14.

“Funny Or Die” With Bryan Greenberg’s Crew

Posted on January 5, 2010

Bryan Greenberg and his crew put together this "Funny or Die" video last year with his Los Angeles entourage. If you watched Greenberg's last HBO tv series "Unscripted," you might recognized a few familiar faces. His nemesis in this video, Nick Poenessa, and the referee, Erik Weiner both played opposite him in "Unscripted." No coincidence of course, as these two were Greenberg's friends from Tisch School of Arts at New York University. This bloodsport parody takes a minute to get warmed up, but is really funny in the end. In addition, I'm going to give a shout out of Erik Weiner, and post his viral video "I Google Myself," which took the net by storm last year and has over a million hits on various sites.

HTMIA Cast And Crew Photo

Posted on January 4, 2010

A tradition in all movie and television shows is the Cast & Crew photo taken at the end of production. It took awhile to dig it up, but here it is. It nearly takes the eyes of a hawk to spot anyone in this photo, but I can see Bryan Greenberg, Victor Rasuk, Lake Bell, and Luis Guzman front and center in row two. If you can spot yourself, feel free to give yourself a shootout in the comment section.

HBO Launches Online Promotion For “How To Make It In America”

Posted on January 3, 2010

Now that we are officially in 2010, HBO has begun its all out assault on the internet and airwaves to promote its new tv series "How to Make It in America."  HBO gave its first peak into the show a few months back when it released The Buzz in early November, which gave a quick look behind the cameras of several new shows.  The teaser trailer was released a month later but it doesn't show us much except for a nice cut from the Brooklyn Bridge.

Just before the year closed out, HBO launched its "How to Make It in America" facebook page.  With their new page, HBO released the first look at production photos taken from the pilot.

HBO is also featuring sponsored ads on google for the phrase "How to Make It in America," although their official webpage is still under construction. And thanks to whoever is responsible for the facebook page, they created a twitter hashtag which is #howtomakeit. So check out that tag so see what the world is saying about HTMIA.

Bryan Greenberg Breaks Down DVD Collection

Posted on January 2, 2010

The Hundreds Magazine stopped by the Hollywood Hills house of Bryan Greenberg recently to raid his closet and check out his DVD collection. For an actor that has had the opportunity to share the big screen with A-list talents like Meryl Streep and Alan Rickman among others, you would hope he knows a good movie when he's seen one. Check out the video to see his top 12 videos of all time.

The man behind the camera is Bobby Hundreds, co-founder of The Hundreds Magazine which is in its 6th year of operation. The Hundreds is a 2-part lifestyle project that houses both a clothing line and an online-magazine. An interesting note is that it has been rumored that "How to Make It in America," written by Ian Edelman, is loosely based on the life of Marc Ecko, who wrote the blueprint for the fashion line/magazine empire, which no doubt is an inspiration for Bobby, and his business partner Ben Hundreds.

The List:

  • Back to the Future
  • Brazil
  • Jeremiah Johnson
  • City of god
  • Spies Like Us
  • Dog Day Afternoon
  • Paper Moon
  • The Great Escape
  • The Big Lebowski
  • Quest For Fire
  • New York - Documentary
  • History of the World: Part 1

Kid Cudi Grabs Complex Magazine Best Album Of 2009

Posted on January 1, 2010

Kid Cudi's 2009 featured a series of highs and lows.  Cudi ended the year in a big way by capturing Complex Magazine's Best Album of 2009 for his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day. The album, which also landed Kid Cudi three Grammy nominations tops a list that included hip hop standouts Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z.

Hip-hop’s lonely stoner threw the “debut rap album” blueprint out the window with his bold opening statement, a somber trip into the mind of Scott Mescudi. With producers Emile, Plain Pat, and Ratatat driving most of the music, Man On The Moon shows a remarkably fully-formed sound—dark, melodic, spacious—a feat that most unfocused artists strive for their entire career. Mixing the easy thump of hip-hop with the relentlessly introspective sensibility of indie rock, Cudi pushed the boundaries of both worlds, perfectly capturing 2009’s unapologetically creative spirit.
